Al-Taawoun FC is a Saudi football club based in Buraidah, in the Qassim region, founded in 1956. King’s Cup winners in 2019, they are the leading side from the centre of the kingdom in the Saudi Pro League.

The King’s Cup of 2019
The high point of the club’s history remains the King’s Cup won in 2019. Al-Taawoun had already reached the final in 1990, and returned to it in 2020-21 without being able to finish the job.
That trophy took the club into the Saudi Super Cup, where they finished runners-up the same year.
A regular presence in Asia
Al-Taawoun have played in the group stage of the AFC Champions League in 2017, 2020 and 2022. Their first continental qualification came in May 2016, secured by a fourth-place finish in the 2015-16 league season.
The club also reached the semi-finals of Asia’s second continental competition in the 2024-25 edition, their best run at that level.
Football in the centre of the kingdom
Qassim is an agricultural region between Riyadh and the northern border, and its football is built around two clubs, Al-Taawoun and Al-Raed, who share the same ground in Buraidah.
That arrangement gives the Qassim derby a particular place in the calendar: both sides play at home without ever leaving their city. The club also won the second division title in 1996-97.
